Aquamira Water Treatment treats drinking water using chlorine dioxide to kill bacteria, control the build up of slime and improve the taste of stored water. The economical 2 oz. size boasts the same long shelf life as our popular 1 oz. dropper bottles. Each kit contains everything you need to treat up to 60 gallons of water.
Don’t be fooled by water treatment products that claim EPA or FDA approval but do not list a valid EPA registration number or active ingredients. Chlorine dioxide, a well established disinfectant is the active ingredient in Aquamira Water Treatment. Chlorine dioxide is iodine and chlorine free. The unique formula works by releasing nascent oxygen, a highly active form of oxygen, which is a strong oxidant and a powerful germicidal agent. Chlorine dioxide has been used by municipal water treatment plants to kill a variety of waterborne pathogens since the late 1940s. Unlike free chlorine (familiar as household bleach) or other halogen chemicals (such as iodine), chlorine dioxide does not create potentially harmful by-products.
Aquamira’s key benefits are clearly evident when compared to the other common portable water treatment chemical: iodine. Most importantly, chlorine dioxide is a significantly stronger oxidant than iodine, with greater pathogen killing power. Unlike iodine, chlorine dioxide does not discolor water, nor does it give water an unpleasant taste. In fact, chlorine dioxide is often used to improve the taste of water by neutralizing unpleasant flavors. Aquamira 2 oz. is packaged in conveniently sized, light weight, dropper tipped bottles for easily treating smaller volumes of water.
Directions for use: It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner that is inconsistent with its labeling.
Prior to Treatment, clean and disinfect the water storage container and lid.
Place 8 drops Aquamira® Water Treatment (Part A) and 8 drops of Phosphoric Acid Activator (Part B) in mixing cap to pre-mix.
Let mixture react 5 minutes to ensure full activation.
Fill container with 1 quart (1 liter) water. Add contents of mixing cap.
Shake or stire and let stand for 15 more minutes. If water is very cold or turbid, let stand for 30 minutes.
Water is now ready for use.
